As he prepares for the release of his upcoming album Hummingbird, singer/songwriter/producer bLAck pARty blesses fans with a second single from the project. “On My Way” follows the flirty summertime anthem "Hotline" and tells the tale of navigating through the highways and byways in order to spend quiet time with his lover.
Those familiar with the City of Angels know how treacherous LA traffic can be, and making it to your destination in a timely manner with nerves intact is no small feat. bLAck pARty assures his lover of his determination to make it home as he sings, “I’m speedin’ down highways to make it to you / But there’s too much traffic between us / I promised I’d make my way right back to you / So set the table for two ’cause I’m comin’ home.”
Known for his creative collaborations, this latest offering was a family affair. Co-written by his dad Kevin Flint and LA-based producer/songwriter Willy Yanez, the talented trio created this lush track in the midst of the madness of 2020, when separation from loved ones was prevalent. He explains, “When working on my album, I brought the song with me into 2022 and we pushed to finalize it with Beat Butcha. The song is very close to my heart, it’s more autobiographical than you would think. I’m always late but it’s important to me that the people I love know that I think of them while they wait for me.”
"On My Way" comes alive in the live music video for the track directed by The Reggies. bLAck pARty is perched atop a vintage Chevrolet Blazer while his band – Willy Yanez on guitar, Rumeal Eggleston on bass and Jared Sohnen on drums – are jamming around the SUV under the sunrays.
