Anthony David and Algebra Blessett are out here answering prayers. The friends and collaborators have activated their powerful voices in the form of a hit and shape of an exceptional cover of the gospel classic “Heaven” by BeBe & CeCe Winans.
After teasing fans in October 2019 with an astounding snippet of this track, Anthony and Algebra are finally blessing us with the official release of their remake of one of the multiple GRAMMY Award-winning brother and sister duo's signature songs.
Taking on a classic like “Heaven” is daring, but who better to do it? David and Blessett succeed here where many have failed; they manage to keep the spirit and feel of the beloved original while making it authentically their own. Their stripped-down version, produced by Eddie “Gypsy” Stokes, takes a minimalist approach with instrumentation, instead leaning heavily on the pair’s flawless vocals to convey the track’s impassioned sentiment when they sing, “Heaven is where I want to be.”
Taking a forgivable bit of creative license with the lyrics, they match the staccato feel of the original as David croons, “Now that it’s over / There’s no more use for guns and war / Cost me a lifetime / Just to gain this sweet reward.” Algebra joins in, her pitch-perfect harmonies melding with his to create a distinctive sweet sound that only this duo can produce.
Anthony David and Algebra Blessett’s voices are as perfect a combination as Johnny Gill and Stacy Lattisaw. Individually, they can hold their own, and together, they are unstoppable. Their first duet, the smash hit single “4Evermore,” proved this, and they've continued to remind folks with subsequent collaborations on the tracks "Official" and a cover of Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now."
“Algebra and I really enjoy working together, both on stage and in the studio,” Anthony stated via press release. Wherever they are, their chemistry and talent are undeniable.- Advertisement -
