Singer-songwriter Allysha Joy is readying her upcoming Torn : Tonic for release next month. It seems that the Australian artist is quite anxious for us to hear what she’s bringing to the table for this release. Last month she dropped her single “Let It!” and got into its jazzy groove. Now, she’s bringing us another taste from the set with “Still Dreaming” and SoulBounce has your exclusive first listen.
The self-produced cut melds rolling drums with mellow synths as Allysha sings of her quest to find acceptance and strength within herself. She sings of first waiting on elements outside of herself to find happiness, but soon she realizes that it’s the wrong approach. Once she finds the error in her ways, she offers a message to anyone experiencing the same struggle, singing over a funky switch-up in the groove, “So check you’re still dreaming / We slip so quick / Check your s**t.”
Helping her deliver this important message is singer Rara Zulu, who provides dreamy counterpoint harmonies to back Allysha’s vocals. She slips in around the second verse, making sure to match the lead vocal but never overpower it, in turn adding beautiful layers to an already stunning track.
Torn : Tonic is quickly becoming the 2022 album that we didn’t even know we were checking hard for. Needless to say, we’ll be ready to hear what else Allysha Joy will be bringing when the set arrives on May 13th. Listen to our exclusive world premiere of “Still Dreaming” when you press play.
