Singer-songwriter Natalie Imani recently dropped her first single of the new year, and this one is for the lovers. Released on Valentine’s Day, “Sweet Dreams” captures all the feels of a woman completely smitten with her beau.
The Eugene “ManMan” Roberts-produced track features a sample of the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin’s classic "Day Dreaming" and captures all the reverie and romance of one so enthralled by their lover that all the rules of the game become null and void. The lyrics, co-written by Roberts and Natalie, put words to emotions that are often hard to describe. In her angelic tone, the Philly-bred songbird sings, “You give me sweet dreams / Wake up and I’m still dreaming / Daydreaming, I'm in the clouds, can't come down / When I try I get high ‘cause I think about you.”
Though Natalie has released several singles and EPs since her 2019 debut project Hide Your Heart, written by Pink $weats, she’s also lent her talents in support of a wide range of notable artists including Cardi B, John Legend, Lauryn Hill and Michael Bolton. As an internationally touring vocalist, when she’s not singing sweet nothings in the ears of music fans worldwide, she’s promoting and slaying her very own beauty brand, Passion Mark Beauty. We stan, as we here at SoulBounce are always here for multiple hustles topped off with a bit of Black Girl Magic.
