Kid Cudi has dazzled the film industry with recent turns in films such as the recently released X and last year's too-close-to-home satire Don't Look Up. When he's not getting his act on, though, he's still crushing it with his first love music. He combines both passions (and gets a bit more family friendly) by contributing his new song "Stars In The Sky" to the soundtrack for the upcoming sequel Sonic The Hedgehog 2.

The song is fitttingly happy-go-lucky as Cudi sings about enjoying your life and following your own beat. "Hear me, dancing in the flow / Yes, I feel it's my time, watch me glow / Livin' in the dream lights, in the zone," he sings on the first verse while also nodding to the popular video game series the film is based on. Helping him convey the joy in the lyrics is poppy production from Take A Daytrip and Dot Da Genius, who land the groove somewhere between rock, pop and hip to make it as universally appealing as possible.

In the song's video, Kid Cudi does what many of us wish we could've done back in the day as he goes on adventure with Sonic and Tails. He gets digitized as he zooms through stages that fans of the video games will recognize while clips from the film are also displayed to showcase the impressive cast. Cudi eventually helps Sonic save the day and even gets a parting gift before the clip ends.

It's not reinventing the wheel, but "Stars In The Sky" is sure to put a smile on the face of kids everywhere. It's also the only original song included in the film. Take a listen to the audio stream and view the fun video below. Sonic The Hedgehog 2 will arrive in theaters on April 8th.
