Among his many jobs, Eric Roberson is a professor at Berklee College of Music in Boston, but his students aren't the only ones he's been teaching. Erro has been schooling his fans on his latest hit single "Lessons," on the soul brother-filled "Lessons (Remix)" and in a book entitled Lessons: 100 Thoughts On Life & Love. And Professor Roberson is not done yet. All those drops were the warm-up for the release of Roberson's new album also entitled, you guessed it, Lessons, and to herald the release of the project he's shared the official release date, cover art and tracklist.
Originally scheduled to be released in January, Lessons' rescheduled street date is Friday, April 1st. This will be Eric's 17th album, released almost two years to the day after his last album, 2020's Hear From Here. That collection was a surprise drop that he recorded in the early days of the global pandemic that sat the world down. Eric's creativity has only continued to flourish since then as fans will hear on Lessons.
We also see some of that creativity shine through on the Lessons cover art. The cover depicts Roberson writing out various lessons he's learned on a virtual chalkboard in white and red. He shares truth bombs such as "Hold on 2 the one," "STOP playing games," "You don't have to win every fight" and "The only thing 100% forgivable is effort." Our particular favorite is "PRAISE our QUEENS that's the MOTTO," complete with a crown.
The album's tracklist is 11 songs in length, featuring the title cut and its remix with Anthony Hamilton, Raheem DeVaughn and Kevin Ross, of course. In addition to those guests, we'll get to hear Erro bring the group Intro back from the '90s on the cut "All I Want," duet with Mumu Fresh on the track "Letting My Guard Down," perform with Cory Henry on "Seen" and keep it in the family with a feature from his father, affectionately known as simply Pop Roberson, on the song "Good Loving."
Eric Roberson's Lessons is at the top of our list of albums we cannot wait to get our hands on. We'll soon get that chance when it drops on April 1st. If you'd like to own Lessons on CD, they are currently available for presale right now on his website.
