PJ Morton has been hard at work in the stu cooking up new music for his upcoming album Watch The Sun. Though the artist is looking ahead, he's also in the moment with his current single "Please Don't Walk Away" and has just released the song's music video.
Shot on location in New Orleans, Morton's fellow NOLA native Dawn Richard co-stars with him in the "Please Don't Walk Away" visual. Dawn plays PJ's estranged wife who leaves her wedding ring behind with a note that he finds when he returns home. That sends him into his feelings as he tries to figure out what went wrong and how to make it right.
Directors Prinsey Walker and Dominic Scott follow Morton and Richard around their hometown while they separately go about their business. We see Dawn walking in a park and admiring an older couple cuddled up together on a bench. PJ hops into his car and pops up at the same park with a bouquet of flowers.
There's a brief flashback scene where PJ witnesses Dawn meeting up with another man in the park, much to his dismay. Then we're brought back to the here and now, where he spots her alone and approaches. They reconcile on the spot, and when PJ slips the ring back onto her finger, the black-and-white video turns to full color. The remainder of the clip shows the couple back at home enjoying each other's company. We love a happy ending, and the "Please Don't Walk Away" video delivers.
The track is currently sitting at No. 22 on Billboard's Adult R&B Airplay chart. With Valentine's Day next week and some relationships on the rocks, we suspect that the single will be climbing higher in the coming days as folks try to make amends of their own.
