Cadillac understood the assignment and aced the test. Luxury is about style, elegance, intuitive innovation and having everything at your fingertips while leaving the details to someone else. That is exactly what the 2021 Cadillac Escalade delivered. Blac Lux, our name for this exquisite set of wheels, was strikingly gorgeous in Black Raven with a Brandy and Very Dark Atmosphere interior and featured a curved OLED display – an industry first – that was as vivid as a 4K television and incredibly user-friendly. The Escalade’s Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay connectivity and wireless phone charging made it effortless to stay powered up and engaged.
Of utmost importance to us music heads was the sound system, which was flawless and studio-quality with 360-degree sound. Designed exclusively for Cadillac, the AKG audio technology featured 36 speakers at varying positions throughout the vehicle. The speakers in the driver and front passenger seat headrests were a definite highlight when we pumped up our throwback jams. Throughout the vehicle, we could feel the bass and hear the lyrics without any muddled sound, which made our car concerts top-notch.
The drive from our home base in Prince George’s County, Maryland to Virginia’s Smith Mountain Lake was a dream in the 2021 Escalade. Getting stuck in Friday afternoon traffic and delayed for hours was actually not so bad as we rode in luxurious comfort straight to the Lap of Luxury.
Once we arrived at the property, we quickly realized why the owner gave it such a grand name. We truly had a Tiffany Haddish in Nobody’s Fool moment and yelled “THIS IS NICE!” like we were in the middle of a TikTok meme when we walked through the front doors, throughout the house and around the grounds. We marveled at the marble and exotic stones from all over Europe that made this 6000 square foot, 5 bedroom, 4.5 bath, 2 gourmet kitchen, 2 level mini-mansion with a movie theater and outdoor fire pit all more perfect than the pictures on Vrbo.
