We can never go too long without our Moonchild fix. Luckily, the band is happy to fulfill our needs on a pretty regular basis. We last heard from them two years ago when they released their album Little Ghost. After taking a brief break, the band is ready to give us another dose of their soothing brand of soul with new album Starfruit, which is set to be released next year. To whet our appetites, they're bringing us the set's lead single "Too Good."
The song is yet another visit to the group's sweet spot as we're immediately greeted with lush, tranquil instrumentation that's set afloat the minute that singer Amber Navran's vocal touches down. The songstress is enraptured in a love that feels like heaven. So much so that she's almost doubting that it could be true. "It's too good / No one's this sweet / He thinks of everything (everything)," she sings. "Not that I could / But I can't compete / He's much too good to me." Though her doubts might form, she's willing to acquiesce to the feeling his love causes. The listener, meanwhile, gets the best of it all as Amber's vocal harmonies and the group's masterful arrangement make them feel like they're floating on cloud nine.
We're sure there will be more where that came from when Starfruit arrives on the scene on February 11, 2022. Take a listen to "Too Good" below, and then be sure to pre-order the new album and some the group's merch.
