As she prepares for the release of her forthcoming EP Safe Place, Marie Dahlstrøm drops a deeply personal pair of singles – “Need You, Pt. 1” and “Need You, Pt. 2” – indicative of her current state and continued self-discovery. Both parts of “Need You” tell the tale of one’s journey toward their purpose and the point at which vulnerability and appreciation for those that matter is realized. For “Need You, Pt. 1,” Marie takes an introspective stance and shares her insecurities while navigating through life. Still, the one thing she is sure of is the love of those that have proven to be solid as she continues to evolve. Along with producer and frequent collaborator Dan Diggas, Philadelphia-bred rapper Dayne Jordan joins her on “Need You, Pt. 2” and details the lessons learned and mistakes made along his own journey, while noting the value of both.
This pair of soul-reflective singles follows the upcoming EP’s lead single “He Is,” a dedication to Marie’s newborn son. With this latest release, the project is shaping up to be a beautiful depiction of where she is in her life. She explains, “I wrote this EP during lockdown. This was a special time in my life, where everything shifted in a way. I was moving out of my apartment in London, the only place I’d ever lived since I moved. There were no gigs or concerts, society was (and still is) in a strange place, and then there was coronavirus and my pregnancy. It gave me a lot of time to reflect about what really matters and just how lucky we are to be living and experiencing this life.”
Let Marie Dahlstrøm’s “Need You, Pt. 1” and “Need You, Pt. 2” soundtrack your own quiet time of reflection and introspection when you add both to your collection from you preferred digital platform. Her full Safe Place EP is due out October 29th on Marie’s own JFH Records label.
