It can't be easy being a superstar in this social media age. While celebs have always been the subject of the gossip mill, it seems that there always seems to be something said about someone in the public eye. One star who seems not to give a damn about what others have to say is Lizzo. In fact, she's poking fun at all the things folks have to say with her new Cardi B-featuring single "Rumors."
"Rumors," which is produced by Ricky Reed, sounds very similar in sound to her GRAMMY Award-winning album Cuz I Love You. It starts with a piano intro as she sets up the premise before she goes into a much more jammin' main verse as she boldly proclaims, "All the rumors are true." She then goes through a laundry list of truths and untruths about her. Cardi B also gets into her bag on her verse, alluding to everything from her rumored plastic surgery to the FCC coming at her over "WAP." On the song's chorus, Lizzo and Cardi B both make it known that they're sick of rumors. However, since haters are going to talk, they give them something to talk about.
For some reason, the visual treatment goes with a Greek mythology theme, with Lizzo and Cardi transformed into muses. The ladies stomp through the visual as they chew up the scenery in gaudy Grecian-inspired outfits and their visages are featured on pottery. It all comes to a close with the two finally appearing in a scene together as they touch acrylic nails and their energy lights up the heavens.
While "Rumors" is definitely fun, we've heard and seen better from both artists. Since this is the first single from what is to be Lizzo's upcoming album, we hope she brings a little bit more for her next outing. Check out a stream of the song and its visual when you head below.
