Anushka Releases Reggae-Tinged Remix To 'Move Right Through Me'

Following their stunning Tru Thoughts label debut Yemaya, UK's dynamic duo Anushka drop a remix of one of the project’s standout tracks. While singer-songwriter Victoria Port’s delicate vocals were met with the throwback, aughts-style groove of Max Wheeler’s production on the the album version of “Move Right Through Me,” the remix takes a slightly softer, more tranquil approach. Tokyo-based DJ/production duo Masato Komatsu and Ryo Kawahara, collectively known as Slowly, treated the track to a groovy fusion of soul-filled tropical energy, perfect for the summer. They explain, ‎“The remix was inspired by UK Street Soul and Bristol Sound, influenced by reggae which is at the base ‎of our music. We felt the taste would fit the song well.”

Written by Port, the song itself is described as “a reflection and trust in what God and the universe has in store for you.” She penned the song years ago after leaving the familiar bounds of Brighton. Noting the difficulty of the move, lyrically, she conveys that love is the greatest strength of human beings. In a statement she adds, “This strength – the love and need we have for one another – is also what makes us weak and vulnerable when nothing is final and fate is out of our control."
