Before the global pandemic shut down the live music industry in 2020, a new music festival was announced – the Lovers & Friends Fest – that was a dream come true for R&B and hip-hop fans with a massive lineup of beloved artists from the '90s and early aughts. Unfortunately, the sold-out, inaugural festival scheduled for May 2020 in Los Angeles had to be canceled due to the Rona. Although the panny is nowhere near over, the festival's organizers are cautiously optimistic and have decided to reschedule the first Lovers & Friends Fest to May 14, 2022 and move it to Las Vegas with an even longer list of talent.
Original headliners Ms. Lauryn Hill, Usher and TLC return with the addition of Ciara to the roster. CiCi isn't the only new name attached to the Lovers & Friends Fest, which boasts a lineup of more than 55 acts across three stages during the one-day event. A who's who of Black music is scheduled to take the stage, including Ludacris, Lil Jon, Nelly, Ashanti, Ja Rule, Ne-Yo, Trey Songz, Brandy, Monica, Timbaland, Akon, T-Pain, Lil Kim, Eve – and we're not even halfway down the flyer! Fans of '90s R&B are especially in for a treat with SWV, Xscape, Keith Sweat, Jodeci, 112, Dru Hill, Next, Joe, Ginuwine, Mya, Mario, Donell Jones, Tweet and Jon B all listed as performers. As if all these singers and rappers weren't enough, additional sounds throughout the day will be provided by Soulection's squad of DJs.
Presented by Live Nation, Snoop Dogg and Bobby Dee, the Lovers & Friends Fest is scheduled for Saturday, May 14, 2022 at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds, and tickets go on pre-sale starting Monday, August 2nd at 10 am PST. Payment plans starting at $19.99 will be offered and attendees have the choice of purchasing no-frills General Admission tickets or going all out to reserve a VIP Cabana. An array of VIP travel packages are also being offered with festival tickets, hotel accomodations and various perks included.
