H.E.R. Wants To 'Change' The World Alongside The Obamas

Remember School House Rocks? More than just another Saturday morning cartoon, it was an American institution that taught a generation of children math, science, physics and more. Now that classic cartoon is getting a bit of an update courtesy of President Barack Obama and forever First Lady Michelle Obama and Netflix, with their new series We The People. The series will teach children United States civics lessons through song and inspire them to be more engaged with their community and government. The Obamas are getting help from some big names like Lin-Manuel Miranda, Janelle Monáe, Andra Day, Adam Lambert and Amanda Gorman to name a few. If you aren’t excited yet, then we think the first single from H.E.R. might “Change” your mind.

“Change” is a funky, bass-driven bop that finds H.E.R. on a mission to change the world outside her window — she just needs to figure out how first. While the song has the aim of teaching, it does a great job of not feeling like a lecture, making the mission of change feel personal rather than a chore.

We The People will premiere July 4th on Netflix. You can give H.E.R.'s "Change" a spin and watch the trailer to sample some of the animation and music coming to your TV screens right here.
