Maroon 5 & Megan Thee Stallion Reflect On Heartbreak In 'Beautiful Mistakes'

If we're being honest with ourselves, it’s hard not to think back on a past relationship. You struggle with the couldas, shouldas, wouldas and all that jazz, painting a false picture of the past and a whole lie about what might have been. This is the dilemma that Maroon 5 finds themselves in on their new single “Beautiful Mistakes” featuring Megan Thee Stallion.

Over a rhythmic groove, lead singer Adam Levine looks back on an old relationship through rose-colored glasses. He knows he’s in a better place, allegedly, but can’t help thinking back and rewriting the past and dreaming up a better future with a lover he knows is no good for him. “I fill my days with the way you walk / And fill my nights with broken dreams / I make up lies inside my head / Like one day you'll come back to me,” he reflects. While Adam is stuck in the past, Meg is trying to move forward. “Best you ever had and best you gonna get / If we break up I don’t wanna be friends, you’re toxic,” she spits. Megan even gives us some vocals at the end of her verse and we’re not mad.

While we’re waiting for an official video from Maroon 5 and Meg, they’ve blessed us with a lyric video in the meantime. The clip is composed of animated comic book panels, with the lyrics written in thought boxes. The panels show the protagonist going on an epic adventure through LA, hitting landmarks like Randy’s Donuts, the Griffith Observatory and the coastline. When Meg’s verse comes around, she swoops in to jump in a whip to join in on the animated activities.

Make no mistake, Maroon 5 has another pop-soul hit on their hands with "Beautiful Mistakes" and the Houston hottie Megan Thee Stallion really made this track pop.
