Christian Kuria Is Lost In Memories On '23rd Street'

Christian Kuria knows exactly how to rope you in with a song. The singer-songwriter demonstrated this talent when he released his EP Borderline at the beginning of last year. Now the talented artist is back at it again, telling a story of longing through a single moment on his latest single "23rd Street."

"23rd Street" puts Christian's guitar playing skills to work as he crafts a tune comprised mostly of his playing, with reverb filling in the space to give the track a lo-fi sensibility. It also gives the song a haunting quality that fits in with the lyrical themes presented here. The song finds him reliving a time in the past as he names moments that no longer exist. "Underneath the golden sunlight / California dreams went up in the flame," he sings at one point. "Everything that came between us / Couldn't cover for the price that I paid." However, there's nothing that paints the picture of what he seems to have lost more than the repeated refrain of "All I had was you."

Between his EP, his remix of "Toroka" alongside Alex Isley and now this single, it's safe to say that Christian Kuria has definitely got the goods. In fact, we can't wait to see what he comes with next.
