Leela James is ready for her closeup! The songstress is once again on our minds and all up in our ears thanks to her latest single "Complicated." She's not stopping there, though. Just days after dropping the song, she's now on our screens while displaying some of her acting talents with the song's LA-centric video.
We get LA vibes early on thanks to the clip's aesthetic. Stucco houses, tricked out bikes, flannel shirts and bright, sunny outdoor shots put us in the mind of hood classics like Friday, Baby Boy and Boyz N The Hood. Similarly to those films, Leela is getting cinematic with it as she shows us a potential love story throughout the clip. We see her do her best to get the time and attention of the guy who's garnered her affections but can't seem to get his act together. It's a point of frustration for Leela, so much so that she throws tantrums and asks directly why he has to make things harder than they need to be. At the clip's end, Leela ultimately decides that complicated love is a bit too much for her and it seems as though she's moved on.
"Complicated" is the first listen we're getting of her as-yet-untitled seventh studio album, which is tentatively set to drop sometime this summer.
