Keyshia Cole Struggles With Being A Side Piece On 'I Don't Wanna Be In Love'

When Keyshia Cole went head-to-head with Ashanti for the first VERZUZ of 2021, she took the opportunity to share a brand new track entitled “I Don’t Wanna Be In Love” before the battle ended. Now we're finally getting to enjoy her new single on our own with the song's official release.

Nowadays, songs about friends with benefits are pretty popular, as no one wants to fall in love. The funny thing is, however, that's how a lot of friends with benefits situations end up. On “I Don’t Wanna Be In Love,” Keyshia's afraid of getting caught up in the rapture. Both she and her side piece have real relationships, but they can’t deny there are real feelings between them. Produced by Cole, Ron Fair, Gregory Edwards and Anthony Bell, Keyshia’s tale of woe is told over a classic R&B groove of piano, bass, strings and synths that makes the track Quiet Storm ready. Vocally, Keyshia sounds topnotch as she pours her heart and soul into the material.

“I Don’t Wanna Be In Love” is the lead single from Keyshia Cole’s forthcoming eighth studio album, set for release sometime this spring. This will be Cole’s first official release under her Hearts & Stars label in partnership with music distribution company BMG.
