Jazmine Sullivan Revisits The Live Version Of 'Lost One'

The first taste we got of Heaux Tales, the much-talked-about recent EP from our fave Jazmine Sullivan, was the emotional lead single "Lost One." Jazzy also had the foresight to accompany that release with a video of her performing an acoustic live version of the track that heightened the emotion of the song and drew even more attention to its relatable lyrics. We wondered if she would ever officially release that version to the masses as well. After blowing us away at this past weekend's Super Bowl, she answers our prayers by dropping "Lost One - Live."

Like the video she released, the single gives us a different feel thanks to the use of acoustic guitar as the sole instrument. The rest of the textures are provided by her backing vocalists — who layer their vocals with lush precision — and Jazmine herself. Without the visual accompaniment, we get to hear every note and phrase without distraction. That makes this version an aural treat, as we get to pick out the various harmonies and techniques being used and pay more attention to Jazzy's undeniably flawless vocal.

Jazmine Sullivan didn't have to gives us this gem as a single, but we're surely glad she did. In fact, we wouldn't mind if she gave the acoustic treatment to any (or all) of the tracks from Heaux Tales. Get a whole new understanding of "Lost One" when you press play.
