British rap newcomer Bree Runway came with some heat when she joined forces with industry vet Missy Elliott for their jam “ATM.” With Missy involved, we were hoping to get a fire visual to go along with the banger. Our wishes have thankfully been fulfilled thanks to a stunning visual that’s sure to push all your buttons.
Directed by Lucretia Taormina (and with creative direction from Bree herself), the visual takes us into a special kind of cabaret reminiscent of the burlesque shows of the ’30s, ’40s and ’50s. We’re shown a bevy of dark-skinned divas literal dripping in crystals and the longest nails we’ve ever seen. The first ladies put on an alluring show before taking us backstage to show us what else is going down as men with ATMs for heads look on and spout fountains of cash that rain on the ladies. Missy drops in for a filmed appearance that shows the rap chameleon switching up looks, wigs and accents as she drops her verse filled with quotables. The clip then swerves to more shots of Bree serving us cabaret glamour before becoming a human ATM herself in the closing moments of the clip.
Bree Runway might just be the future of hip-hop and this video proves that she’s got the vision to cement her place. Get an eyeful of Bree and Missy Elliott in the video for “ATM” below.
