Ari Lennox didn't let a little thing like a global pandemic break her musical stride in 2020. She has kept fans fed on a steady diet of new music and features since dropping her debut album Shea Butter Baby last year. With just a few more weeks left in this year, she serves up another new tune with the song "Grounded."
Clocking in at a smooth 1 minute and 30 seconds, "Grounded" is more of an interlude than a full song in length. The track is a short but sweet treat, but don't let its brevity fool you. Ari packs a lot of ear candy into that minute-and-a-half. Accompanied only by a guitar and drums, she peacefully sings, "You'll grow / Once you are grounded," or a variation of those lyrics throughout the song in between references to smoking a little herb. We don't know if what she's puffing on has her so zen on "Grounded," but Ari provides all the chill vibes we need to help us relax, relate and release after this stressful year.
At the rate Ari's been going, this may or may not be the last we hear from her in 2020. But if this is the final piece of new music we get from the singer until 2021, we'll gladly take it with the promise of more to come.
