Summer Walker Flirts With 'Santa Baby' From LVRN's 'Home For The Holidays' Compilation

Record label LVRN (Love Renaissance) is making a joyful noise this holiday season with their Christmas compilation Home For The Holidays. The project features new yuletide tunes from their roster of artists, which includes Summer Walker, 6LACK and Shelley FKA DRAM, giving us modern takes on some Christmas standards. The first single from the project is mommy-to-be Summer Walker’s version of Eartha Kitt’s 1953 classic “Santa Baby.”

The tongue-in-cheek, flirtatious little ditty about a woman who wants everything that glitters under her Christmas tree is a natural fit for Walker. The Atlanta native does her good singing to match Kitt’s seductive tone, while making it feel fresh. In the music video for the cover, Summer checks her Christmas list twice, and suggest to Santa how naughty she’s willing to be if he’s nice to her. She wears her sexiest lingerie with a matching Santa hat and teases a whip and set of handcuffs from her adult toy box. It seems as if Walker has some gifts she wants to give Santa.

Along with Summer’s “Santa Baby,” Home For The Holidays also features Shelley’s take on “Feliz Navidad” with Young Rog, “12 Days of Brhistmas” with OMB Bloodbath and WESTSIDE BOOGIE and “This Christmas” from Eli Derby. There are also a few original songs, including “Ghetto Christmas” with 6LACK and Walker. What stands out about the project is that most of the songs aren’t what you would expect from an urban record company, showing us the range of the label and its artists. Coming in at six songs and three interludes long, LVRN’s Home For The Holidays is a short but sweet Christmas album that will be a welcome update to your seasonal playlists.
