Atlantic Records Gathers Together Trey Songz, Pink Sweat$, Raiche & More For 'Still Home For The Holidays (An R&B Christmas Album)'

Feelings of nostalgia are usually at an all-time high around the holidays. This explains why we can listen to the same Christmas songs for the duration of our lives and not think twice. In fact, for most of us, the season isn't complete unless we hear certain songs/albums. So understandably, it can be hard for an artist in the 21st century to release original holiday music that will please finicky listeners.

Well Atlantic Records – home to artists like Bruno Mars, Janelle Monáe, Lizzo, Cardi B and Burna Boy – knows a little something about what audiences like to hear, so the label confidently ventures into the seasonal fray with a new compilation album entitled, Still Home For The Holidays (An R&B Christmas Album). It's a gamble for sure. But to our surprise and delight, it pays off.

The project features a nice mix of mainstream artists and up-and-comers. Ty Dolla $ign and Kiana Ledé long for time with family and friends on "Alone For Christmas." Trey Songz plans a steamy "Christmas Morning" with his special lady, but Ayanis would rather snuggle up with St. Nick on "Santa Baby." PJ laments being "Single On Christmas," while Tayla Parx celebrates new love on "Ain't A Lonely Christmas Song." Sebastian Mikael's "Chimney," an ode to a different kind of Christmas "tree," will have you craving seconds long after everyone is done eating. In contrast, Shelley FKA DRAM inspires fun for the whole family with an infectious stepper's groove called "Litmas."

Pink Sweat$ provides the album's sole remake with his 2019 single "This Christmas," a posthumous duet with Donny Hathaway. Other classics are featured in clever ways throughout the album. Trap and classical collide (and it's kinda hot) on "All I Want For Christmas" by Ghoss, built upon a "Carol Of The Bells" sample. Raiche and Vedo incorporate a sample of The Flamingos' "I Only Have Eyes For You" throughout the charming track "Anticipating." Raiche appears a second time on the equally enjoyable tune "I Hate Christmas." Jeven Reliford also pulls double duty, guesting on a cute bop with IV JAY ("On My Way") and waxing romantic on "Meet Me."

Still Home For The Holidays will have you smiling and grooving well into the new year. Preview the album below then click one of the links to add it to your permanent collection.
