Trey Songz Takes Us 'Back Home' On New Album & Shares Touching Video For 'I Know A Love'

Trey Songz is currently battling COVID-19, but he didn't let that stop him from releasing his eighth studio album, Back Home, today. A milestone for any artist, the 22-track project represents both a look back and a look ahead for the artist. After 15 years in the game, Songz has reevaluated his own music and started thinking about what originally inspired him. “I wanna make the kind of R&B that inspired me to sing. The songs that make you love, the ones that make cry and the ones that make you smile, laugh and dance,” he shared during a recent radio interview. You can hear straddling the past and present all over Back Home, including on the current single “I Know A Love.”

Trey Songz has made a career out of making lusty love songs dedicated to the fairer sex. But on “I Know A Love,” Trey is taking some time out to show love to his son, Noah Neverson. Over a laid-back R&B groove provided by thumping programmed drums, Trey basks in the joy of fatherhood, calling his son a blessing from above.

For the visual, Trey once again foregoes the Hollywood treatment and instead chooses to share a supercut of home videos and pictures of him and his son, from big moments like Christmas and birthdays to just watching his son sleep peacefully in his crib. Trey utilized a similar concept for the two videos for the single “Back Home” featuring Summer Walker, one of which showcased fan-submitted footage and another that was all about his son Noah as well.
