We’ve all been there. The relationship is over, but we just can’t seem to move on. The constant replay of conversations and moments, wondering if you missed the signs that someday all of this bliss would come to a crashing end. Or, maybe you drive yourself crazy wondering if your former flame has moved on (and with whom). Whether you choose to stew in your misery or numb the pain with indiscriminate distractions, unless you just flat out refuse to let it all go, it seems that time is the only surefire way to get over heartbreak. Singer-songwriter Sebastian Mikael captures this sentiment and marks his return with his soulful and smoky new single “Exit.”
Sebastian's signature vocals float effortlessly over the moody track, as he tells a relatable tale of love lost. Though he’s found a few ways to pass the time, the Sweden-born, Boston-raised creative isn’t passively awaiting his lover’s return. Instead, he declares, “I’ll still be present / Not someone's exit / Won't take no for an answer / 'Cause this love is forever.”
This latest release is the first we’ve heard from Sebastian since the spring 2019 release of his EP I C U U C Me Pt. II. The celebrated project was the follow-up to Part I and captured deeply personal subject matter as he began to enjoy more creative control following his departure from Epic Records. Now firmly planted on the Slip-N-Slide/Atlantic Records label, it seems he’s found his sweet spot and we can’t wait to hear more.
