There comes a time when one must shake off the blues and get on with life. Whether grieving over lost love or more general disappointments, eventually you get to a point where you are simply sick and tired of being sick and tired. Though it might take a bit of time and effort, life has a way of reminding us just how blessed we are. For her latest release, singer-songwriter India Shawn has decided that she’s had just about enough gloom and is ready to walk in her own glow on “MOVIN’ ON.”
India shines both lyrically and vocally and encourages us all to do the same. Over the vibrant D’Mile-produced track she sings, “Get yourself outta them blues / You gotta give it to you / Ain’t nobody got you like you / Let it show / We gon shine like gods today.” Consummate creative Anderson .Paak chimes to offer his side of the story, riddled with the regret of doing the right woman wrong. In his signature cadence he recounts, “Sometimes when I think what we could’ve been / Hoping and wishing we get back it again / Festival season, thought it’d never end / Holding your hand, hoes in my plans.”
In addition to making his mark on the track, Cheeky Andy also makes his video directorial debut for the accompanying visual. We watch as India just can’t seem to shake thoughts of her past. Whether she’s attempting to drink the pain away or indulging in a bit of self-care, visions of her former lover appear in the most inopportune places. The gorgeous and, at times, humorous depiction also features cameos from some of our favorite newcomers including The Free Nationals, KIRBY and Annie Miller.
