Ciara Gets 'Rooted' In Her Blackness

Ciara gave birth to her precious baby boy Win Harrison Wilson just a few weeks ago, but it looks like mama showed no signs of slowing down all the way up to the day she gave birth. How do we know? Because she just dropped a video for her Ester Dean-featuring "Rooted" that was filmed just two days before she delivered her newest bundle of joy.

The track itself is a love letter to Black people and the skin they're in. A bass- and drum-heavy beat sets things off as CiCi expresses what Black means to her. "All my songs come with melanin / Got the heart, got the soul like Harriet," she sings. "A queen since she born, that was evident / That's evidence of Black excellence." The video picks up on the idea of Black excellence with a host of dancers (it is a Ciara video, after all). Ciara, herself, is captured solo in all her pregnant glory. Her large baby bump is on full display as she continues to drop it and pop it like only she can while showing off a few glamorous looks. Also joining her in a cameo are her oldest, Future, and her baby girl Sienna in an homage to the Black Panthers.

After sharing beautiful images of Blackness, Ciara ends the clip with her very own message to the people: "To all my young Rosa's and Young Luther's keep marching. Don't stop fighting for what you believe in. To all my Black queens and kings, continue to plant and spread seeds of love, hope and pride in your tribe. Everything you need to survive and thrive is rooted in you. Stay rooted."

If you want to get into all of Ciara's Black and beautiful (and also fathom how she's dropping it low while nine months pregnant) all you have to do is press play.
