Quarantine performances are a tough thing to navigate, especially when you're trying to navigate selling an album without being able to meet the public. You know who's doing it right, though? Chloe x Halle. The sister duo has been killing the TV performance circuit with inventive recorded takes on Ungodly Hour singles "Forgive Me" and "Do It" that look absolutely exquisite. However, their most recent performance for Jimmy Kimmel Live! just might take the cake.
The ladies, who have been impressively performing their hit "Do It" almost everywhere you look, had to be tired of performing the same arrangement of the track (though it's still Song of the Summer status here at SBHQ). So when it came to this particular performance, they decided to switch things up. The ladies go for an '80s feel with grainy digital video capturing them looking lavish while draped in flowy red 'fits. That feel extends to the music as well, with its bumping beat replaced with Chloe doing her thing on an MPC and Halle accompanying on her guitar. This fresher take is amplified even more by embellished vocals and savvy decisions when it comes to ad-libs and runs. The gorgeous twosome then ends things with a breakdown that freaks the groove even more.
