Lovers of soul music are highly anticipating The Wild Card, the upcoming release from gifted songstress Ledisi. That's mainly because she's been bringing the heat with singles like "Anything For You" and "Where I Am." Before she fully unveils her next project, however, she reaches back to her 2017 album Let Love Rule to bring us a music video for the BJ The Chicago Kid-featuring track "Us 4ever."
"Us 4ever" is pure R&B with a mid-tempo groove and soulful instrumentation that feels warm and inviting while adding a bit of knock to make things two-step worthy. The song's sentiment is just as lovely as Ledisi and BJ trade lyrics about how strong their love affair is despite all the usual trials and tribulations. "We love, then we fight, we argue, then we make it right / You leave, I go and then we're back together / Our love is so strong who's right, who's wrong / What we built won't break, guess it's us 4ever," the two of them sing on the chorus.
For the "Us 4ever" visual, they take us into the studio where we see Ledisi looking absolutely gorgeous as ever as she steps to the mic and gives it her all. We eventually catch up with BJ in his corner of the world as he joins in with his passionate verse while sitting on a comfy leather couch. It's Ledisi that steals the show though, with the music dropping out for the last portion of the song and Led scatting away to her heart's content. Even BJ has to bow down and just listen to her talent.
"Us 4ever" may be from her last release, but it's yet another reason for us to count down the days until The Wild Card is released on August 28th.
