Rico Love Shows The Future Of R&B Is In Good Hands With The 'Emerging Women Of R&B' Compilation

With almost two decades in the business under his belt – working with stars like Beyoncé, Usher, Chris Brown, Fantasia and many more, in addition to his own solo career – singer/songwriter/producer Rico Love has established himself as a bonafide hitmaker. But his latest project is more than a flex of his studio prowess. With Rico Love Presents: Emerging Women Of R&B, he hopes to introduce us (or reacquaint, in some cases) to a talented crop of R&B ingénues.

We have to admit, at first glance of the tracklist, we were scratching our heads at the inclusion of R&B diva Deborah Cox, along with established artists like K. Michelle and Sevyn Streeter. But in a recent interview with You Know It Got Soul, Mr. Love reasoned, "I didn’t feel like I could put out that album with only new artists without paying homage to the ones that have already emerged. I wanted to be able to say 'These are artists you look up to and they’re going to be participating on this record.' You’re going to see my vision."

Emerging Women Of R&B features an impressive roster of singers who show and prove why they deserve some shine. While we're partial to "Come Right Away," because of Deborah Cox obviously, the 10-song collection is pretty solid from start to finish. We have to give props to Ariale, Erika Kayne, Angeline, Olivia Swann, Debbii Dawson, Ling Hussle and Justine Darcenne for holding their own and making us take notice of their skills.
