Native Dancer Takes Us On A Journey To 'Mumbai'

Earlier this spring, London-based ensemble Native Dancer marked the end of their hiatus with the soulful groove called "Currents." A lot has happened since then and the world is forever changed. But the release of new music continues with their latest single, a pensive ballad entitled "Mumbai."

With anxiety and fear pervading our collective consciousness, the band shares their thoughts and encourages the listener to use this time of quarantine to search for deeper meaning and truth. Produced by Miles James and band producer/keyboardist Sam Crowe, "Mumbai" is an atmospheric tune that allows us to float above the din of our surroundings to a more cerebral plane. Frida Touray's comforting vocals serve as a thermal current, lifting us even higher as she sings, "Home is more than I can see / More than any words could mean." Percussionist Kaw Secka punctuates the powerful sentiment with an outro solo on the Gambian talking drum – an important feature that pays homage to Frida's paternal heritage.
