Tom Misch & Yussef Dayes Take Us To 'Kyiv'

As they prepare for the release of their forthcoming joint album, Tom Misch and Yussef Dayes gift anxious fans with a third single from the project. During a completely improvised live set, “Kyiv” was born, in honor of its Ukrainian namesake where it was recorded. Slightly more energetic than the preceding single “Lift Off,” this latest offering is a seamless blend of jazz and funk and features a penetrating bassline courtesy of Rocco Palladino.

As fate would have it, the accompanying visual is the result of a roll of film that remained after shooting the video for “Lift Off.” With just a pair of interpretative dancers and the warmth of a single spotlight, we watch the trio of masterful musicians play off of each other’s incredibly creative instincts as the camera makes its rounds. Director Douglas Bernardt offers fans an intimate view of the chemistry between these artists and builds upon the excitement surrounding their upcoming collaboration.

Pre-order their album What Kinda Music now before its April 24th release on Blue Note Records. Though COVID-19 has forced them to postpone their live tour in support of the album, they are looking forward to performing for fans across the UK, Germany, France and the Netherlands in late September.
