R&B and soul music can be found in many forms throughout the world. SoulBounce has made it a point to feature it from whatever corner of the world we find it in, and boy have we found an artist you've just got to hear. Her name is Juliet July and calls Amsterdam home. The Dutch songstress first cropped up on radar with the release of her track "Sunday Afternoon" last year. Now the alternative R&B star is giving us another taste of what she has to offer with her latest single "Easy."
"Easy" sounds just like the title suggests. Soft synths and Juliet's delicate vocals merge with a laid-back bass groove and trap-esque drums. She flips the script lyrically, though, as she takes the opportunity to take on those that think that chasing her dreams isn't a worthwhile endeavor. She details the trials and tribulations she's gone through to make her art her life's work. However, she doesn't lament the sacrifices and choices she's made. Instead she embraces them wholeheartedly, singing on the chorus, "I'll make it easy to do what I love / Oh yes, it's easy / When you learn to trust in it all."
For the song's gorgeous video, Juliet traveled to the coast of South Africa and the forests of Cape Town for gorgeous shots of nature and landscapes. She looks just as stunning as she traipses across the scenery in gorgeous looks that make her glow as she communes with the elements.
"As a creative, we need to deal with lots of opinions of others," Juliet said of "Easy" in a press statement. "How many times have we, as creatives, artists, entrepreneurs heard how difficult, risky and challenging it is or going to be to follow our dreams? I know some people mean well, while some are secretly just envious as they wished they had the courage to do the same."
"Either way, I got tired of listening to these 'warning' voices about how difficult everything was going to be," she continued. "And I wrote 'Easy' as an answer. 'Easy' gives an alternate perspective on the road to following your true heart desires."
You can both listen to "Easy" and watch the beautiful video for the song right here and learn more about Juliet July via her website. Her upcoming EP Palmtrees In The Mist — which will feature both "Easy" and "Sunday Afternoon" — is set to arrive later this year.
