SoulBounce Exclusive: I, Ced Gets Funky With Moniquea, XL Middleton & Reesha Archibald On 'Reflect (I Thought It Was Me)'

It's been a minute since we've heard from our homie I, Ced. In fact, it's been four long years since he dropped his last release What Are We Looking For? back in 2016. We were almost ready to send out our search team to locate him when he actually hit us up to let us know that he has new music on the way in the form of his upcoming album Interpretations. Not only that, but he also offered us the opportunity to premiere the first video from the set, "Reflect (I Thought It Was Me)."

"Reflect" is a funky jam that blends an '80s musical feel with a modern sense of funk and soul. The bounce and funk of the track is pretty sweet, which helps temper the song's slightly bitter subject matter. It finds I, Ced and guest vocalist Moniquea playing a couple trying to figure out what's really going on with their relationship. "What more can I say? / What can I say to make you love me," he asks at the start of the song. "Let me come in / What can I say to make you stay / When I'm unsure if you feel the same." Meanwhile, Moniquea responds matter-of-factly in her verse, singing, "I don't know what you want from me / 'Cause I've been everything that you see / So if you've read it in your mind / I think you need to press rewind." The two continue the story in the video, in which they confront each other while I, Ced spins records at a local record store. While it may be a bit awkward for the two of them, it's very entertaining for us.

"Reflect (I Thought It Was Me)," which also features contributions from instrumentalist XL Middleton and Reesha Archibald, is just a taste of what we can expect from Interpretations. This will be I, Ced's first-ever full-length vinyl release and is sure to be one you want to add your collections when it drops in March. Get into our exclusive premiere of the video below.
