Kortland Whalum Sets A Mood For Love On 'C'est La Vie'

If your love life ain't been no crystal stair, you may be a little cautious about getting into a relationship and catching feelings with someone. We can't say that we blame you. Singer/songwriter/actor Kortland Whalum also understands what you're going through and hopes to melt the icebox where your heart used to be on his new song "C'est La Vie."

"The song 'C’est La Vie,' or 'Such Is Life,' is a song about allowing oneself to release all inhibitions and to not be afraid to trust in love again," Kortland explains about the track. Whalum sets a definite mood for love to get his message across on the Quiet Storm-ready slow jam. He gets right to the heart of the matter on the chorus. "If you love me, show me I'm all that you say / Let the raindrops fall where they may / C'est la vie / Just let it happen, let love lead the way / If you love me, say you love me," he sings, with a sincere yearning heard in his voice. Although he is all in, he realizes that he can only do and say so much because the decision is ultimately up to his partner as he follows the chorus with the lyric, "I'll never ask for more than what your heart is capable of."

Will Kortland break down his lover's walls? Well, according to him, it's up in the air. "I leave the story open to the interpretation of the listener," he tells us. Such is life indeed.
