Khruangbin & Leon Bridges Take Us To The 'C-Side'

When we first learned that talented trio Khruangbin and singer-songwriter Leon Bridges were teaming up for a new EP, we knew we were in for some soulful goodness straight from the Lone Star State. While the project's lead single/title track "Texas Sun" gave us a laid-back, western vibe, the second single will have listeners tilting their cowboy hat to the side in true player fashion. With its groovy bass line and '70s-style guitar chords, “C-Side” provides the soundtrack for a night out on the town with everyone on the hunt. Leon has his sight set on one lady in particular, adorned in red heels and gold earrings, as he sings, “Melanin lady / She got her jig on strong / It's so good to be here with you / Somebody’s gonna fall in love tonight / And I hope we make sweet love tonight.”

This collaborative quartet is undoubtedly a match made in musical heaven, as Leon’s smooth vocals glide effortless over Khruangbin’s toasty and transcendent tracks. What started as a one-off addition to the trio’s instrumentals soon transitioned to a 4-track EP, due out next month. As Khruangbin’s bassist Laura Lee puts it, “If you just let the music do what it’s supposed to do, it will reveal itself.” She explains, “We tried to take that same approach with Leon. For us, it was opening up our world to have another person in it. But all of it feels like Texas to me.”

Listen to Khruangbin and Leon Bridges’ “C-Side” right here, and be sure to pre-order the full Texas Sun EP before its February 7th release date.
