H.E.R. is no stranger to collaborating with rappers. Most recently the siren teamed up with her fellow Yay Area representer YG for the single “Slide.” For the remix, she’s letting some out-of-towners get in on the fun, with Pop Smoke, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie and Chris Brown getting their “Slide” on.
“Welcome to the Party” rapper Pop Smoke shows up first and lets it be known that he’s only trying to slide in and slide out and isn’t here for any long-term engagements. H.E.R. slips in with her first verse from the original track intact. She’s followed by A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, who delivers a much more romantic verse than the previous guest, showering his girl with sweet nothings like, “You’re just my type / Baby, when we gon slide? / I’ll put you in the G Wagon, if that’s your vibe,” but admits he might be getting a little “over my head, moving too fast.” Finally, the singer-turnt-rapper of the crew Breezy breezes through with a few bars of his own. Of course, there are lyrics about bad b***hes, haters on his d**k and other braggadociousness, but he balances it out by asking real questions like, “What’s the plan, what’s your goals? / What you really looking for?”
Look out for more from H.E.R. who will be performing on the 62nd Annual GRAMMY Awards ceremony as she competes in five categories. We’d wish her luck, but the two-time winner doesn’t need it.
