It's been a minute since we've heard from British singer-songwriter Ella Eyre. After taking some time off from the industry, she's back in a big way. She recently signed with major label Island Records and she's got new music lined up, including her recently released single "New Me."
The song incorporates a bit of dancehall into her pop/R&B sound. With a percolating beat serving as the base, Ella uses the track to claim a new persona and lease on life after breaking off a toxic relationship. "No, Ella ain't here, it's the new me / I don't make time for your foolin'," she sings on the triumphant and spicy chorus. "Kinda got things to be doin' / It's the new-new me, it's the new me." She further pushes the song's agenda with a colorful and creative music video. In it, we see the singer working through her pain while eating ice cream as her tears make her mascara run. Thankfully, she has BFFS who ain't got time for that. They get her right together and then take her out for the night as she constantly blocks her ex's attempts at reconciliation.
The sassy track isn't the only new thing Ella Eyre has got going. She'll also be heading out on tour in her native UK this May with dates in Glasgow, Manchester, Bristol, London and more.
