Wale Keeps It 'On Chill' With Jeremih & Kelly Price On The 2019 Soul Train Awards

The Soul Train Awards are typically all about soul and R&B, but they always show a little love to hip-hop as well with the Rhythm & Bars Award and at least one performance for the rap fans. At the 2019 Soul Train Awards, Cardi B's "Money" took home the trophy while Wale took to the stage to perform his singles "On Chill" and "Sue Me" from his new album Wow...That's Crazy.

Jeremih joined Wale for "On Chill," kicking off the performance of their collabo from the audience. With a flirtatious dancer all over him, the Chi-town representer started his verse in the aisle as Wale commanded the audience to stand up. He approached the stage where Wale was waiting to spit his bars with a pretty young thing of his own hanging on his every word. Wale, Jeremih and Adam Blackstone's BBE All-Stars backing band brought the jam to life and made the song fit in with the soulful feel of the evening, particularly with the addition of the horn section to the track.

Wale wasn't done there, however. After a quick outfit change out of his letterman jacket into a long black leather coat, he switched things up to perform his single "Sue Me." Numerous images of Black excellence were displayed on the huge screen behind the stage as he defiantly rapped about rooting for everybody Black. He was soon joined onstage by Kelly Price who reminded us why she's an R&B diva with her soaring vocals on the chorus. Rounding out the performance was a small gospel choir who backed up the pair and made a joyful noise as fists of solidarity went up in the air in the audience.
