Miguel Thinks His Love Is To Die For On 'Funeral'

Miguel is holding a “Funeral” on his new single. While there’s no slow singing or flower bringing, there is definitely a dark sense of humor where the “Adorn” singer uses an electro-pop sound to discuss his sexual needs and prowess.

“Send my regards to the mother and father because someone’s daughter I just f***ing slayed,” is the opening salvo to “Funeral,” where Miguel lets you know straight no chaser that he just blew somebody's babygirl's back out. A tongue-in-cheek play on the more ratchet phrase “kill the p***y,” Miguel puts his witty wordplay to work throughout the track. It’s quite the evolution from the simple and sweet analogies of his 2011 hit “Sure Thing.” However, he still manages to keep the lasciviousness of the track fun and playful without going too gutter. These analogies and metaphors are brought to life against a rocking backdrop of crunchy guitars, bouncy synths and electric bass that feels like an R&B track via Nine Inch Nails.

“Funeral” is the first solo track we’ve heard from Miguel in a hot minute and looks to be the first track to an EP of the same name on the way. This follows the singer-songwriter joining Alicia Keys on the duet “Show Me Love.” Press play to listen to "Funeral" and see if Miguel gives you life or at least a good laugh.
