Common Spreads 'Love' On 'COLORS'

In addition to treating the good people of Harlem and surrounding areas to a special one-night-only performance at the historic Apollo Theater, Chicago-based artist/actor/activist Common recently stopped by Berlin's COLORS Studios and delivered another unforgettable live session. Against a brilliant tangerine backdrop, the Emmy, GRAMMY and Oscar winner performed “Good Morning Love,” the opening track from his latest album Let Love featuring Samora Pinderhughes. All eyes were on Common as he rapped and even sang along with the hook, detailing the resistance and resilience of being black in America. We especially love that he reset the energy by lighting a stick of palo santo, welcoming love and creativity into his space.

The performance perfectly captures the lounge-like vibe of Let Love, which serves as a nice complement to his memoir Let Love Have the Last Word, released earlier this year. Alongside exceptional jazz musicians, including Karriem Riggins and Burniss Earl Travis II, Common invites us all to ride his wave in cultivating universal and unconditional love. He served his message to the masses during his recent world tour, and these latest appearances continue to spread this good word.
