Emeli Sandé Brings Encouragement With 'You Are Not Alone'

Emeli Sandé's new album Real Life will have a permanent spot on our fall playlist when it premieres next Friday. So far, singles "Sparrow," "Extraordinary Being" and "Shine" have provided an uplifting boost to our 2019 soundtrack. But we think the British singer may have gotten some Divine inspiration regarding the timing of her new single "You Are Not Alone." The song and video dropped this past weekend, and considering the tragedy (TX mass shooting, CA boat fire, etc.) and destruction (Hurricane Dorian) that wrought havoc on our world these last few days, it strikes the right chord and delivers the encouragement we need to keep going.

Produced by Troy Miller the lovely tune was co-written by Ms. Sandé, Salaam Remi and James Poyser. The song reaches out to those that are hurting, struggling in life or just plain feel invisible – providing a gentle reminder that "it's not just you," there are plenty of other people who feel the same way. That's why we need to come together, support each other, help those in need and do our part to heal this broken world we live in. Emeli's rich vocals touch the soul as the lyrics penetrate the heart, "Does it make you sick they kill the innocent?...Are you dreaming of a brighter future?... Do you still have hope that peace is possible?...My friend, you are not alone." The stirring anthem is further propelled by soaring background vocals from the House Gospel Choir.
