We've always had a thing for Washington-based singer-songwriter Allen Stone. The long-haired singer has a knack for creating catchy, soulful tunes that are full of heartfelt sentiment and foot-tapping grooves. Perhaps that's why we've been jonesing for an Allen Stone fix ever since he dropped his last studio album Radius way back in 2015. He's been content to give us a few loosies here and there since, but it looks like Allen is finally ready to bring us his follow-up Building Balance in the next few months. But first, he brightens up our life with his newest single "Sunny Days."
"Sunny Days" is reflection of the state of mind the new husband and father is currently in. The song is anchored by an upbeat-yet-chill guitar groove that helps Allen pour his heart out about all the good going on in his life. "You know life / It ain't always sunny days / But right now / I can feel no rain on me," he sings on the song's infectious chorus. "It would take so much hate / For my smile to leave / Because I know the one I love / She loves me." He takes that sentiment even further in a special live video of the track. As part of the Junk Jams series, Allen performs the track while dressed to the nines in a black suit, crisp white shirt and black bowtie — all while standing in the midst of a junkyard. He injects the performance with an effervescent energy despite being surrounded by dilapidated automobiles, proving that one can find a reason to smile anywhere.
We all might've had a pretty hot summer but if Allen Stone has his way, we're going to be entering a lover's fall. Building Balance is set to arrive in stores on November 8th and you can head to Allen's website to pre-order the set right now.
