Normani Put The Full-Court Press On The 2019 MTV Video Music Awards With 'Motivation'

Normani came to the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards ready to play and slay. Fresh from winning the Moonman for Best R&B Video for her intergalactic collaboration with 6LACK "Waves," she further proved that she's got now and next with a saucy performance of her current single "Motivation."

Beginning the performance perched high atop a basketball hoop, she was sitting pretty in a sporty yet sexy lilac hoodie and mini skirt. Meanwhile, her dancers literally hung out and twerked on chain-link fences erected around the stage that mimicked a basketball court. As the backboard was lowered, Normani and her dancers convened centerstage and pretty much brought the bulk of the "Motivation" video to life. The talented Miss Kordei had the audience live in Newark and at home hanging on to her every word and move as she commanded the stage (and worked those male dancers) like a pro.

Normani thoroughly impressed with her solo debut at the VMAs and surely left any naysayers slackjawed at her artistry and athleticism. We're still waiting to be wowed on the music front, but Normani most definitely has our undivided attention.
