Get Caught Up In The Beauty Of Mereba's 'Sandstorm'

We don't think it can be said enough that singer/songwriter Mereba delivered one of the best releases of 2019 when she dropped her debut The Jungle Is The Only Way Out. One of the first songs that caught our ear was "Sandstorm," her tender duet with Dreamville rapper/singer JID. Now the track is getting its own gorgeous visual just like "Black Truck" and "Planet U" before it.

Shot primarily in black and white, the clip paints a story of a relationship and its ebbs and flows as they grow apart. We see Mereba paired with a very handsome co-star as they move together and in opposite directions. Director Dawit N.M. captures the two in regal style amid luxurious trappings as he plays with the idea of reflection. It should be noted that the fella featured isn't JID. However, he isn't left out of the video. Instead, he's included in the video interesting ways — including being reflected in the polished wood of a grand piano or suddenly appearing from the sepia-stained background of the video's only color shots. In fact, he's included in the clip's final image — a simple yet dynamic shot of the palms of each artists' hands.

Mereba never fails in translating the depth and complexity of her songs into the visual realm. "Sandstorm" is just a reminder of her talent in doing so. Watch the song's visual below and attempt not to get swept up in its aching beauty.
