Kehlani has a few special deliveries scheduled for this year. She's currently working on her sophomore set and she's expecting her little bundle of joy to arrive any day now (her due date was supposed to be this past Tuesday, so she's now going into overtime). The SweetSexySavage singer also delivered a new mixtape when she dropped While We Wait last month. The nine-song set has definitely been in rotation here, especially Ty Dolla $ign-featuring lead single "Nights Like This." Just when we thought we might wear it out, here comes a new remix of the track done by production duo Snakehips with an assist from B. Lewis.
Speeding up the tempo by a hair, the Snakehips fellas kick up the song's energy from slow lament to a mid-tempo bop. They accomplish this by adding some lilting guitar and kicking drums into the mix along with some some synths for good measure. this lifts the song's somber mood enough for us to not feel guilty about nodding our heads. Then B. Lewis adds some swirling harmonies that are distorted just enough to sound almost robotic, giving this a slight futuristic feel — especially when the track kicks into overdrive for the refracted chorus. Sure, Kehlani and Ty are trading verses about lonely nights leading to messy, regrettable moments but damn if it don't sound good.
We may be partial to the original recipe of "Nights Like This," but we definitely don't mind the new flavor this remix brings. Give it a spin when you press play on the visualizer below.
