Kelly Rowland & Dove Want To Celebrate Your 'Crown'

Kelly Rowland wants you to wear your hair however you like, and we're here for it. Dove just partnered with the songstress to create a new tune for their "Love Your Hair" campaign, and she delivers an infectious upbeat anthem. The song encourages girls to "Wear it proud!" and the visuals feature real pre-teen and teen girls who've been expelled from school, bullied or harassed just because of their hair.

The video, directed by Hannah Lux Davis, opens with the girls telling their hair stories and posing with Kelly with pride before the track starts. On top of pulsing percussion, Kelly flexes her smooth vocals and flips her hair in the video on the chorus where she repeats the campaign's hashtag #MyHairMyCrown. The ladies have a blast in a hair salon, on a basketball court and in a thrift store, expressing their unique personalities throughout.

"Growing up I felt many of the pressures young girls face today when it comes to embracing their hair, but my mom would always tell me that your hair is your crowning glory and you should wear it proudly,” says Kelly in a press release. She also wrote a letter to her younger self on her Instagram page to reinforce her message of self-love.

We last saw Rowland flexing her chops in the role of Gladys Knight in the 2-episode premiere of American Soul last night on BET and heard her flaunting her confidence in her previous single "Kelly," so it only made sense for her to continue her glow up on this track for Dove. You can get "Crown" on your favorite streaming platform now, and you can also watch more of Dove's self-esteem campaigns via their YouTube page.
