Back in November Ari Lennox and J. Cole dropped off their sexy single "Shea Butter Baby," a track from the Creed II: The Album movie soundtrack. Now the Dreamville duo delivers a sensual dream-like music video for their collaboration. The sultry visuals, directed by Bennett Johnson, bring a fantasy to life.
The video starts with a scene of Lennox entering the room where her man is hard at work on his computer. Lennox's significant other, played by a Taye Diggs lookalike, doesn't pay her any attention as she hugs then sits down across from him. While he's preoccupied, Ari stares and gets lost in her wild thoughts, which we see in the next scene where she finally has her bae's undivided attention. She sings and lounges in a revealing bra and flowy negligee as he sits shirtless surrounded by three nymph-like dancers.
The scenes alternate between real-life and fantasy for the duration of the clip, showing the complexities of love and lust. J. Cole shows up in the dream sequences to drop off his hot 16 as Lennox and her lover get more and more amorous.
Ari Lennox released a number of tracks at the tail end of 2018 including "Whipped Cream," "Grampa" and "40 Shades of Choke," and J. Cole dropped off "Middle Child" earlier this year. The Dreamville team are hoping to dominate our playlists this year with the release of Ari's debut album Shea Butter Baby, something new from J. Cole and Dreamville's compilation Revenge of the Dreamers III. Until we get all of the new music from the Dreamville camp, catch a visual vibe from Ari Lennox and J. Cole's "Shea Butter Baby."
