Sam Smith & Normani Find Each Other While 'Dancing With A Stranger'

Did you guys think Normani would be playing with you in 2019? The budding R&B star started staking her claim to solo fame with her Khalid duet "Love Lies" last spring and she followed that up with a slew of collaborations. The up-and-comer, whose debut album is set to drop this summer, continues making shrewd musical moves, this time linking with British crooner  Sam Smith for their sensual duet "Dancing With A Stranger."

On the track, the two play reluctant lovers trying to resist the pull of each other. Rather than fall to the temptation of being together, they find themselves venturing into the night to find compatibility elsewhere. "Look what you made me do / I'm with somebody new / Ooh, baby, baby / I'm dancing with a stranger," they take turns singing on the chorus. Backing them up is musical production that perfectly marries pop and R&B with atmospheric synths, guitar licks and programmed drums the propel the song forward.

The song, which was created after a chance studio meeting between the two while Sam was was working on new material with Stargate and Jimmy Napes, is a picture perfect collaboration and a sign that 2019 is getting off to a great start.
