Common Developing Series Based On Zora Neale Hurston's 'Baracoon'
Everyone loves a good story, especially when it comes from a revered writer such as the late Zora Neale Hurston. Common loves Zora too, apparently, and is in the process of bringing one of her recently discovered titles to life. As part of his deal with Lionsgate TV, Common is helping develop the author's found book Baracoon into a limited series. The book, a nonfiction tome about the last known survivor of the middle passage, sat as a manuscript at Howard University for 50 years before being published this past May. "It's official! I'm so excited for this project," Com tweeted about the project. "Zora Neale Hurston is a national treasure and I'm grateful to develop one of her stories into a show!" #BlackHistoryInTheMaking
